Wow… the time to launch is upon us! Thank you again for your prayers, and please download WhatsApp or Signal if you would like to keep in touch. Furthermore, please subscribe to my blog for the latest updates regarding this trip. We are coming for you, Atlanta, and then on to Romania (which is for the most part confirmed as our first destination)!

Today, I wanted to wrap up this series on Alaska and share about the Lifelines ministry that we served with. Lifelines is an outdoor ministry that is affiliated with Cru (a nationwide campus ministry organization). On the first and last five days of the trip, we bonded as a group and did many sessions with the Lifelines leaders that went on the trip with us. On the first few days of the trip, we flew into Port Alsworth and stayed at a lodge across Lake Clark known as “Outpost Alaska”. From there, we boated up the lake to a small campsite where we learned about three activities that many people find their identity or use to cope with life: performance, isolation, and total excess. Then, we discussed about walking our lives in Christ Jesus- through grace and truth. We camped at another side of the lake before hiking up a huge mountain. Near the top of this mountain (Lach Mountain), we had spectacular views of the lake and got to explore some of the alpine tundra. It was one of the most epic hikes that I ever did, and we got to bond closer as a group as well.

Upon the conclusion of serving at Tanalian Bible Camp (TBC), we continued our time as a Lifelines group. We spent a day debriefing what happened at camp and resting together. On another day, we learned how to build a campfire and did a fishing trip through a partnership with a lodge that is next door to ours. Some of us caught fish from the lake (I hooked a Lake Trout) which was a great moment together with the guys. We also learned about trapping in Alaska and applied that to our spiritual lives as well. Near the end of the trip, the guys and girls were separated and each went out to a chain of islands on the middle of the lake and spent the night alone. When I got dropped off on my island, I had my tent, pack, food, firestarting kit, and that was about it. We all spent this time abiding with the Lord and processing everything that happened in Alaska. While on the island, I reflected very deeply what happened in New York City, Nantahala, and Alaska as the summer got underway. It was a great time to read the Word and journal, and I hope that more of these opportunities emerge in the future.

Please feel free to view some pictures from the trip below and reach out if you have any questions about it! Please continue to pray over the World Race as it begins to get underway, and Alaska will always have a special place in my heart.

  2. Hey Brett! Thanks for sharing all of this with me. I am thankful for how the Lord is working in your and others lives. I’m praying for opportunities and boldness for you and the group as you travel.
May you grow to know the Lord in a deeper way. Blessings! Tim

  3. Thank you- and Alaska was one of the most beautiful places that I ever visited! Awed by His creation.

  4. Thank you! And it was neat to see the Lord work in each of our lives in Alaska. Very thankful for the close knit group and also for the hard things that the Lord brought to the surface. It was a great place to see missions be lived out as preparation for the World Race came to pass!
