Arrived in Romania!- 08/13/21

Thank you again for praying over this trip; it means a lot! I wanted to update you all that we have made it successfully to Romania to begin our ministry on the World Race! The flight lasted through the night, and we stopped at the Paris Airport along the way to change flights before going further into Europe.

Over the past week, we spent time at the Adventures in Missions (AIM) base in North Georgia preparing for the World Race together as a squad. It was also a very helpful time of transition as we adjusted from life at home to life on the field. We did a significant amount of cultural training; with teachings focused on evangelism and the different dominant worldviews. It was also such a blessing to see K Squad and L Squad and wish them goodbye as well! Both of them are going to Central America to begin their time out on the World Race. We also gathered together at a hotel in Atlanta to celebrate Parent Launch Weekend. The event was a great moment where the Racers and their parents were able to come together and worship to kick off the World Race launch.

At Launch, we really pressed into one another as a Squad- and seeking to be united together as we launch and also as we continue to serve on the field. It is terrific to be united, but it is also important to maintain a deep level of unity that works through challenges and conflicts. This is not an easy thing to accomplish; yet it draws us closer to dependence on the Lord.

As we start our ministry in Romania, I also wanted to reflect back on Training Camp and us coming together. Training Camp was an 8 day event that happened in July- where we met and engaged in many different scenarios together. We slept outside, worshipped, and discovered how we function together as M Squad. On one particular night, we all hiked with our backpacks up Yonah Mountain together. It was not an easy hike, and it was crucial to keep the group together as we climbed the mountain. Yet spectacular views presented themselves at the top, and a beautiful sunset greeted us. Our Squad Mentor, Ari, helped cast vision for the trip, and I spoke about Ephesians 4 and Squad unity. It was a great time together, and we had a roaring fire going late into the night. May we look back on these moments as the World Race comes to pass.

It will be exciting to see where the Lord leads us, and I will continue to post updates on here as the ministry takes place. Some of these will be short and to the point while out on the field; but nevertheless will be a great way to follow along and pray over the journey. Here’s to a year of following the Lord into the Nations and making His name known at the ends of the earth. Woo-Hoo!

  1. Hi Brett!
Praying for the quarantine time & for all to feel better soon. God has a plan. He always does. Sometimes it just takes a while to be revealed. Sit tight & enjoy the time getting to know your team. We love you & miss you. Praying for M-squad & the navigators.

  2. All of your prayers and preparations are finally coming to fruition. Can’t wait to learn how God uses you and your team in this mission. Sending up prayers on your behalf.

  3. Is your first picture on top of Mt. Yonah? It is absolutely stunning! You did such a good job leading our squad up the mountain. I loved how you wanted everyone to arrive at the same time-that promoted unity better than i could have imagined. Thanks for the update, Brett!

  4. Thank you- and the Lord taught me a lot in Quarantine. Thankful to be out and definitely a lot of takeaways from the 2 weeks that we were in isolation. Definitely stuff that needed to take place!

  5. Thank you very much- and a lot of refinement took place in the Squad throughout Quarantine. Many of us were brought to our weak points- which was so fruitful and produced more dependence on the Lord as we prepared to go out into the field.

  6. Thank you- and the Lord really did a lot a good up on that mountain! Praying for continued unity as we serve on the field in Romania. But that night on the mountain was a very special time for the Squad as we bonded together and supported one another.
